Sunday Night Heat - 12/28/03
What's up all? Welcome to the Wrestling Informer's Sunday Night HEAT! recap. I'm the Informer's resident degenerate, Doug M. bringing you all the Sunday night action from Spike TV and the WWE. It's the last HEAT! of the year, so it should be something special. Let's go check this out, shall we?
We've got Coach and Al in the studio. After sending warm greetings to Goldberg - Coach's favorite wrestler - they get down to business. Tonite is a highlight show, recapping the same matches shown earlier this week on RAW. Whassup with that? But most of these are worth seeing twice (or more).
From Wrestlemania 19 - HBK Shawn Michaels versus Chris Jericho
We see a flying forearm by Jericho. He mocks the "show-stoppa". HBK is up and shows him how it's done. Backdrop and clothesline by HBK. The fists fly and HBK hits a big moonsault for two. We cut to HBK with the patented flying elbow. Time to warm up the band, but Jericho ducks the Sweet Chin Music and applies the Walls of Jericho. Shawn makes the ropes, and Jericho hassles the referee a bit. Big kick by Shawn and both men are down. Shawn throws some fists, but Jericho slings HBK into the cormer. Partial Flair-flip by HBK. Back in the center of the ring, HBK with a roll-up on Jericho and he gets the pin.
Winner: Shawn Michaels
LUGZ BOOT OF THE WEEK: Kane unmasks - slams RVD - and shows the world what a bad hair day is really all about.
We're back with Al & Coach. They sing the praises of Ric Flair for a moment and plug the Ric Flair DVD. From last May on RAW - it's Ric Flair versus HHH for the World Championship.
Ric Flair versus Triple H
(World Championship Match)
HHH is knocked to the floor. Here comes Ric with a suplex. Some chops as they head back to the ring, and Ric suplexes HHH again for 2. More chops by Naitch, but HHH comes back with a spinebuster. (cut to) Flair chops HHH down and goes to the legs. It's time to go to school - figure four leglock by the former 16 time champion.
HHH makes the ropes. Flair goes back to leg and the two exchange chops and fists. HHH catches Ric with a sleeper. The ref gets bumped and Hunter catches Naitch with a facebuster. Hunter goes outside and gets the World title belt. He swings and misses - Flair goes to the eyes and doesn't miss. Low kick by Ric as the trick knee acts up again. Flair nails HHH with the belt and gets 2. HHH fights back with fists, but gets backdropped by Ric. Ric goes for pedigree, but HHH backdrops him. HHH nails the pedigree and gets the win.
Winner: Triple H
We see a RAW moment as it's "Rock Appreciation Night" just after WM 19. Rock has done it all. Who's next? Goldberg. Some words are exchanged and Goldberg spears the "Peoples Champion!".
We cut back to Al & Coach, who put the bad mouth on Bill Goldberg for a little bit.
From last April - "Backlash"
The Rock versus Bill Goldberg
Rock uses some fists and gives Bill the "rock-bottom". Goldberg misses a spear and tumbles to the floor. (cut to) Goldberg spears the Rock and both men are down. (cut to) The Rock scores with a spear and a rock bottom on Goldberg to get 2. Rock uses the fists, but Goldberg takes him down with a clothesline. Spinebuster by the Scorpion King. The most electrifying move - the people's elbow connects. But Goldberg gets a shoulder up at 2. 2 successive spears by Goldberg. It's jackhammer time and Goldberg gets the pin.
Winner: Bill Goldberg
SLAM OF THE WEEK: From RAW, Christian makes Trish "unprettier", and Chris Jericho gets upset. A big shove to the "CLB" by Y2J.
Coach and Al talk a bit about the Trish-Jericho situation and plug "WWE Unscripted". We now move to a match from last January on RAW - for the Womn's championship - it's a Chicago Street Fight.
Trish Stratus versus Victoria (w/ Stevie Richards)
Trish nails Victoria with the trash can lids and plays the cymbals on Victoria's head. She positions the can in the corner, but get bopped on the noggin' by the psycho sister. Victoria catapaults Trish into the trash can and nails her with the lids. Elbow by Victoria. Trish with a Trishacurrana for 2. Chops by the queen of "T & A" and Victoria goes to the floor. Trish with a Thesz press and some fists. Neckbreaker by Trish.
Stevie tries to help with the fire extinguisher, but nails Victoria instead of Trish. Chick-kick by Trish for 2 as Stevie comes in to break it up. Trish goes to town on the GM of Stevie Night Heat with the kendo stick and sends him out of the ring. Victoria plants a kick and gets 2. Trish goes for "stratusfaction", but Stevie interferes and she's sent hard to the ringside barrier. Victoria gets the pin.
Winner: Victoria
Coach and Al talk about our friends who have passed during the past year. We see a touching video tribute to Stu Hart, Crash Holly, Miss Elizabeth, Hawk, Curt Hennig, and Classy Freddie Blassie. Rest in Peace! Like it says, "forever in our hearts".
Back to Coach and Al as they brownnose a bit for Eric Bischoff and talk a bit of trash about Stone Cold Steve Austin.
From Survivor Series - last month.
Team Austin versus Team Bischoff
We join in the closing moments. HBK with a roll up on Chris Jericho. Jericho is eliminated. Jericho takes a chair and nails HBK with it as he leaves the ring. Randy Orton climbs to the top and delivers a crossbody press to the referee, as HBK falls/moves out of the way. A bloody HBK tunes up the band, but Eric Bischoff is in, and nails Shawn with a hard kick. Austin in the ring, and he beats the crap out of Eric. A stunner for Randy Orton, and then Austin proceeds to beat Bischoff up the ramp. Batista comes from the audience and slides in the ring, giving HBK a powerbomb from hell. Orton makes the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: Team Bischoff
We see an Austin tribute video as he says goodbye and makes a toast for thefans.
Back again to Al & Coach as they laugh and change the subject to Mick Foley.
We get to see Mick and Eric play their games as the board is set for a "winner take all" scenario on RAW. It's Randy Orton versus Mick Foley.
Mick comes to the ring, stalls a bit, and walks out. He's confronted in the back by Eric Bischoff and Randy Orton. Orton spits on Mick. Mick never says a word and keeps on walking.
Back to Al & Coach for the wrap up. Tommorow night on RAW, it's HHH versus HBK for the World Championship. Stone Cold is supposed to address the "board of directors". Will he? We'll have to tune in tommorow night and find out.
And that's the show. Not bad. We saw the same matches on RAW this past Monday, but they truly were worth watching twice. Al & Coach will be back next week on WWE HEAT! And I'll be back as well, watching and reporting for all you fine folks here at the Wrestling Informer. It's the last HEAT recap for me this year. It's been a blast and I look forward to doing it again all next year.
I want to take a second and thank Brad Casey, the man behind the Wrestling Informer, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to come into your homes every Sunday (and Monday) night with the HEAT & RAW recaps. I love doing this and I hope you enjoy reading it.
Thanks to everyone. If you have any comments or questions, drop me a line at either Doug28352@yahoo.com or at DougMaynard@wrestlinginformer.net. Have a great night and Happy New Year. Until next time, take it light
