(Flashback) Monday Night RAW - December 29, 2003

Monday Night Raw 12/29/03

What up all and welcome to the Wrestling Informer Monday Night RAW recap.

I'm the resident degenerate and salt-tosser from the Informer, Doug M. with a recap of all the great Monday night action. We're live from San Antonio, Texas. It's the last Monday Night of 2003. The guys calling the action are Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. And now, it's time to get RAW!

We open to a brief recap of the whole Mick Foley situation from 2 weeks ago. Mick walks out. Opening montage and fireworks and RAW is on the air.
We see a shot of WWE HQ in Stamford, CT and cue the music - it's Mick Foley's music.

But instead of Mick, we get the "Legend Killer" Randy Orton. He comes to the ring and bad mouth's Mick a bit. But says Mick was smart for taking the cowards way out and not wrestling him. He wants Lillian Garcia to announce him as the winner. She enters the ring and obliges, but he's not satisfied. Your winner - the "new Hardcore Legend"
Randy Orton.

Here comes Booker T on the ramp and he issues a challenge for later tonite against Orton. He's gonna be IC champ. Now can you dig that, sucka? Here Mark Henry from the back and he attacks Booker and leaves him laying. The refs tend to Booker as Henry & Teddy long go to the back.

Orton comes up the ramp and tells Booker, "yeah - I accept your challenge!". In the back, Eric Bischoff confronts Teddy Long and Mark Henry. Eric is not happy. He tells them to take the night off. Teddy wants the favor that Eric owes from Survivor Series. Eric says "next week". Teddy says "Belee' dat!"

Rob Van Dam versus Scott Steiner

A kick and some clubbering by Scott to start things off. Big slam. Flex time and some hard chops. Kicks by RVD as he fights back. Flips and shoulders on Scotty. Big kick and RVD to the top. BPP hits the ropes and RVD sings soprano.

Superplex by Steiner for 2. RVD is tossed to the floor and Steiner makes him eat some steps. Steiner takes t back in the ring with more chops and suplexes. A choke as RVD is tied to the tree of woe. Steinerline and elbow and Scotty gets 2. RVD uses the elbows and fists and fights back. Moonsault and rolling thunder and RVD gets 2. Another suplex by Scott and he sits RVD on the top rope. RVD pushes him off and nails a big kick. RVD hits the 5 star and gets the pin.

Winner: Rob Van Dam

Klassic HBK Moment: January 1997 - Royal Rumble - HBK nails Sid Vicious with some sweet chin music to win the WWF Championship.

WWE REWIND: Christian nails the "unprettier" on Trish. Jericho takes offense and shoves Christian. Later in the night, Christian returns the favor with a shove of his own.

We're back to live action as Christian and Jericho are arguing in the back.. Christian is hot and accuses Y2J of ditching him for a girl.

We see a shot of WWE HQ in Stamford. We go to Coach for a live report. Linda will argue for Austin. Vince is here, and he will be fair and unbiased and balanced in the argument against Stone Cold. JR and King don't think it's fair. Suprise! Suprise.

We see a great video highlighting the SmackDown trip to Iraq and the Christmas in Bagdhad.

A big USA chant in San Antonio by the crowd. JR and King plug the new WWE Originals CD - coming soon.

We see a clip from earlier today..The Dudley's comment on Mick Foley. He's a coward.

The Dudley Boys versus Russell Simpson & Eddie Cramer
Special Referee: Ric Flair

Cramer works on D-Von's arm but not for long as D-Von slams him down and tags in Bubba. Doubleteam by the Dudleys and Bubba throws some chops and mocks the refereeing Nature Boy. Simpson lands a kick, but Bubba lands a hard fist. It's flip, flop, fly time by Bubba but Ric calls for the bell. He's DQ'ed Bubba for using the fists.

Winners by DQ: Russell Simpson & Eddie Cramer

Bubba cocks the Nature Boy with a hard fist. Here comes Batista and he decimates the Dudley Boys, leaving them both laying.

HBK Classic Monment: From SummerSlam - August 2002 - HBK destroys HHH in a street fight.

JR and King plug RAW magazine. We see Eric Bischoff admonishing the referees. Be tough and pay attention. Enforce the rules. Fair play and law and order are what RAW and Eric Bischoff are all about.

We go back to Stamford and Coach talks to Vince. Vince feels his testimony went well. Coach asks about the fans and the petitions. Vince says the fans are like children and sometimes they don't know what's best for them.

Terri talks to Stacy, Lita, and Trish about their upcoming match. Here comes a truck barreling in the scene. It's Stone Cold and he's gotta sit around, drink some beer and wait for a phone call.

WWE STING OF THE NIGHT: From 2 weeks ago on RAW, Mick Foley walks out.
We see Austin toss a beer can from his truck. He's just sitting and waiting.

INTERCONTINENTIAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Randy Orton (champion) versus Booker T

A so so match. Starting off with Booker working on the arm. He lands a shoulder block and some chops. Booker in control until Orton nails him with a "hotshot" on the top rope. Great dropkick by Orton and he lays the boots to Booker T. Orton throws fists, but Booker uses a backslide to get 2. Orton maintains control with a clothesline and a chinlock. Booker comes back with some kicks and a flying forearm. Spineroonie time in San Antonio. Booker nails Oton with a spinebuster for 2. Time for the scissorskick, but here comes Kane down the ramp. Booker is distracted and Randy nails the RKO for the win.

Winner and still champion: Randy Orton

Kane goes after Booker with some fists, a slam and the chokeslam from hell. Kane summons the fire and heads back up the ramp as the ref checks on Booker.

HBK Klassic Moment - Survivor Series 2002 - Elimination Chamber - HBK beats HHH to bring home the gold.

Back to Stamford and Coach as he talks to Linda McMahon. She makes the case for Stone Cold and says it's purely a business move. The decision is in the hands of the board.

Chris Jericho is in the back and talks to Trish Stratus. He gives her a present and tries again to apologize. She's not buying it and turns on the tears. She really cared and her heart was broken. Tells Y2J to leave her alone.

We see Stone Cold still waiting in his truck. The phone rings, but it's the wrong person calling. He'll talk to them later.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS MATCH
Lita, Trish Stratus, & Stacy Keibler versus Molly Holly, Victoria, & Miss Jackie.

Victoria shoves Stacy, but quickly tags in Molly. Stacy displays her talents with kicks and a hair flip and then a tag to Lita. Lita uses kicks and fists - and a head butt to the mid-section to get the advantage.

Miss Jackie lands a knee from the outside and Molly takes control with elbows and some clubbering, leading to a chinlock. A roll-up by Lita, but Jackie in for a moment to break it up. We see Victoria pull Jackie out as Molly applies a surfboard type manuever. Lita with a headscissors and a tag to Trish. Thesz press and fists by Trish on the head of Molly. Molly lands an elbow, but a Trishcurrana takes her down. Trish gets some "stratusfaction" and gets the pin.

Winners: Lita, Stacy, & Trish

Victoria comes in to check on Molly and then nails her with the Women's title belt.

We see Stone Cold still waiting. The phone rings. He's reinstated as Co-GM of RAW. He gets pissed and says no way. He's back on his terms only or they can take the job and shove it. He hangs up and peels off in the truck.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
"Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels versus Hunter Hearst Helmsley (champion)

I can't even begin to call the action. I took notes in the beginning, but I got involved in watching the match and didn't resume my note taking until near the end. You saw the match. Classic HHH and HBK. Back and forth. Two men giving their all. Fast forward towards the end. HBK hits the flying forearm. Goes to the top and it's elbow time. Tune up the band, but Flair is on the apron. HBK nails Flair. HHH moves in and takes out the ref. DDT by Hunter. Both men are down. Flair tosses HHH the World title belt. HHH uses the belt and nails HBK. Cover for 2. HHH goes for pedigree, but HBK reverses and sends HHH into referee Hebner who is knocked from the ring.

Eric Bischoff comes out to check on the ref while HHH removes the cover from the turnbuckle in the corner. HBK comes back and tosses HHH into the exposed turnbuckle. HHH down. HBK covers. Eric plays referee and gets 2. Both men exchange fists. HHH nails HBK with a facebuster and covers for 2. Again and gets 2. HHH goes to the second rope and jumps into HBK's boot. More punches and chops are exchanged. HBK does the corner flip and nails HHH with some "sweet chin music". The cover and 1 -2 -3. Eric makes the count.

The winner is....according to GM Eric Bischoff - Triple H.

Winner: Triple H

Shawn is disgusted. Eric explains that both men had their shoulders down and in case of a tie - the champion wins. They show the replay and Eric is correct. HBK grabs Eric and is attacked by Flair. HBK is having none of it as Flair gets the big kick and he nails Bischoff. HBK heads to the back, but Eric gets the mic and tells him "you're fired!".

Cue the broken glass as here comes Stone Cold Steve Austin. He says there's a new sheriff in town. HBK is rehired and gets a rematch. A stunner for Eric and Austin calls for a beer. The end.

A great match and a great way to end the year. HBK gets crapped on, but Eric pays the price with the return of Stone Cold as the new "sheriff". A lot of ring action tonite - very little backstage stuff, except for the Trish - Jericho story - which is still going strong. It's all good anyhow.

Well, that's the recap. I'm Doug M. and I'm outta here folks. 4AM comes mighty early. But have a great night. Have a Happy New Year. And I'll see you next Monday night. Until next time, be cool and take it light.
