Regrets

I gave in to an impulse
and may end up losing it all as a result
I should have known better
I do know better
but knowing and doing aren't the same thing
what is... is
what happened... happened
and there's not a damn thing I can do to change that

So now he's gone
there's a tear in the fabric
can it be mended or repaired
or will it become more frayed
and get worse as time goes on?

I want to love the guy
I'll settle for a friend
but due to a moment of rashness
I may end up with with neither a lover
or a friend
it'll just be someone I "used to know"
and Lord help me,
I don't think I could handle that
