(Retro) Sunday Night Heat - December 1, 2003

SUNDAY NIGHT HEAT FROM SALT LAKE CITY UTAH
Doug Maynard 12/01/2003

What up all, and welcome once again to the Wrestling Informer's recap of the greatest Sunday Night wrestling program around, WWE Sunday Night Heat. I'm the resident Sensei and all around degenerate, Doug M. This is the recap. And this is Heat. It's the 30th of November and Heat is brought to you by the fine folks of Spike TV. It's from Salt Lake City, Utah - and Al Snow and the Coach are calling the action. Let's do this..

Rene' Dupree (with Rob Conway) versus Tommy Dreamer
We start off with some good back and forth wrestling and Rene' does his happy dance. Tommy gives him a happy fist in return. A single leg takedown and an armdrag and Dreamer is in control. Rene' comes back with a big slam. Tommy tries to dance, and Rene' flies to the concrete floor. He is consoled by Conway, but Dreamer nails them with a baseball slide. Back in the ring, Rene' lands a neckbreaker and applies a full nelson to Dreamer. Tommy comes back with elbows and plants Dupree with a huge powerbomb. A backdrop and a neckbreaker by the innovator of violence and Tommy gets 2. Conway gets on the apron and Dreamer nails him. But the distraction costs him as Dupree catches Dreamer with a perfect-plex to get the win.
Winner: Rene' Dupree

Lugz Boot of the Week: Matt Hardy slams the cage door on Lita, costing her the cage match on RAW against Victoria.

Stevie Richards (with Victoria) versus John Heidenreich
Stevie starts off by running off at the mouth and poking at Heidenreich. A headlock by Stevie. He runs the ropes and gets knocked over by the big shoulders of "little Johnny's" best friend. Stevie decides to take a walk, but John follows and carries Stevie back to the ring. Victoria grabs John's leg, and Stevie gets in a shot to take control. He slams John into the steel ringpost and puts the boots to the big man - before finally settling into an arm-bar. Stevie applies the Stevie-submission arm lock (which is also known as the "Code Red"). Heidenreich just picks Stevie up and drops him hard, getting the pin.
Winner: John Heidenreich

We get to see some clips from the Maury Povich show as a sick little girl is greeted by her biggest fan, World Champion Goldberg in a touching moment. Goldberg gives her a replica of the World title, and they share a hug. A Hallmark moment.

More action from Monday night as we review the Chris Jericho/Trish Stratus relationship. Trish wants Jericho to "do the right thing" with HBK against Ric Flair and Batista. Eric wants to make sure Chris does the right thing as well. We go to the match and see the action as Y2J lands a superkick on HBK, who falls into a cover on the Nature Boy, getting the pin for his team. Jericho leaves to go find Trish, and Batista gets the last laugh as he chokes HBK into a bloody mess.

WWE Rewind: From RAW last Monday, we see Matt Hardy abandon Christian in the "Strange Bedfellows" match. Bubba does the work - Garrison Cade gets the pin. They have a moment over the tag team title belt.

D-Von Dudley versus Mark Jindrak
Lots of chain wrestling to start. D-Von goes to the arm and hits a big slam. We see some roll-ups by D-Von and some back and forth arm locks. D-Von hits an elbow and some kicks and gets 2. Jindrak with a huge shoulder for a two count of his own. A slam and big elbow just gets a two count for Jindrak. D-Von lands some fists and a sunset flip for another 2 count. Mark lands a clothesline and the chinlock from hell. D-Von hits some punches, but is slammed to the corner. Jindrak dives in, but D-Von moves and no one is home. A big clothesline, followed by a backdrop and neckbreaker. D-Von gets another 2. D-Von lands an inverted suplex. Jindrak is stunned, but lands some big elbows. He goes to the top and hits a flying clothesline to get the win over D-Von.
Winner: Mark Jindrak

We then move to scenes from RAW on Monday night where Triple H sought to regain the World title from Bill Goldberg. We see the ending of the match, complete with some good old editing from the WWE, so the bell ringing by mistake is not heard - Kane interferes and beats down Goldberg in the end. Kane and HHH confront Eric Bischoff who shows why he's the boss - always thinking fast as he makes a Triple Threat match for Armageddon with Goldberg defending against both Kane and HHH. Kane likes it. HHH is not a happy camper at all.

Maven versus Rob Conway (with Rene' Dupree)
Conway starts off with some hard fists. Maven fights back with some fists of his own and slams Rob hard into the corner. Maven nails a dropkick, but misses a crossbody attempt and goes flying to the floor. Rob follows and puts the boots to Maven. Back in the ring, Rob hits a knee and a flying fist and gets a two count. Rob applies a combination armlock/chinlock and rests for a moment. Maven fights back and uses the fist, and then some classic roll-ups for 2. Maven with a clothesline. Conway hits a kick. Maven nails a spinkick for 2. He goes to the top. Here's Dupree with the distraction. Maven kicks him off, but the distraction has done it's job. Conway with a corkscrew neckbreaker off the top rope, and he gets the pin.
Winner: Rob Conway

Not a bad show, but not a great one either. The green-ness of John Heidenreich has never been more apparent than in this match with Stevie. Tomorrow night, RAW is in Sacramento, CA. I guess that's it for now. If you have any questions or comments - talk to me at either DougMaynard@wrestlinginformer.net or at Doug28352@yahoo.com. I'll see you folks tomorrow night for RAW. Until then, take it light
