(Retro) Monday Night Raw - 9/30/03

RAW FROM CHICAGO ILLINOIS
Doug Maynard 09/30/2003

What up all? This is Doug M. with the *EXCLUSIVE" recap for Monday Night Raw - live on Spike TV from Chicago, IL. It's 9/29/03. Al Snow and the Coach are the guys at ringside. I'm running way late, so let's jump right into it..

The opening montage and some fireworks and RAW is on the air. Lillian Garcia introduces our announce team of Al Snow and The Coach. The stand and acknowledge the fans. Yes - the love train continues. We hear the music and here comes Chris Jericho and Eric Bischoff not far behind. This must mean..

Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel
Jericho plays to the crowd a bit and then hands the mic to Co-GM Eric Bischoff. Bischoff tells the audience that because of his unprovoked attack on Eric last week, Steve Austin has been suspended for a week. Jericho complains that Austin is drunk with power and got off way too easy. Then, after bad mouthing the crowd a bit more, Jericho brings out his guest Good old JR. Al and Coach stand and mocking salute JR as he makes his way to the ring. Eric tells JR that his match tonite against Coach for the RAW announce position is a special match and Coach gets to decide what kind of match it it. Coach asks for a "country whipping match" and Eric happily agrees. JR tells Eric that he, Coach, and Al are all just alike. They all suck! Jericho kicks JR in the belliwelli and applies the Walls of Jericho to JR, making him tap. Cut the broken glass and here comes Steve Austin. He's supposed to be suspended but he doesn't give a damn and makes the save. Eric is livid and calls security to come down and escort Austin out. The guards grab Austin - he says he can see his own way out and they let him go. He sucker punches one and stuns the other. Jericho and Eric are livid.

Commercial and Austin is now outside. Security has formed a barrier and is keeping him out of the building.

World Tag Team Championship Match: The Dudleys (champions) versus Test and Scott Steiner w/ Stacy
Test is an ass and Scotty isn't happy. Bubba and Scott to start, but Scotty blind tags Test in and Bubba goes to work. Fists and a splash in the corner. Flip flop and fly as Bubba is all over Test. Test goes to the eyes and gets a roll up for 2. Big slam by Bubba. The Duds go for "Whassupp", but Test uses a low blow to send Bubba to the floor. Pumphandle for D-Von and the cover, but Steiner puts Test's foot in the ropes breaking up the pin. Test gets a chair, but Stacy pulls the chair away, and Test threatens her. Bubba from behind with a bubba-bomb. Scott is in to check on Stacy and the Dudleys give him a suplex. Test in, but Stacy nails him with a chair - setting him up for the 3-D by the Dudleys. The Dudleys cover and get the pin.
Winners and still champions: The Dudley Boys

Stacy gets in in the ring to taunt Test. Test rears back, but Steiner nails him with a clothesline. Scott and Stacy embrace and Scotty says he forgives Stacy for costing him the match at Unforgiven... NOT! She starts to run, but he gives her a perfect belly to belly suplex and Stacy is down. Big Poppa Pump is back and leaves the ring, as Test looks on, amused!

Commercial..

During the break, Stacy is shown being helped to the back by refs as Test follows. Cue the big Red Machine cause here comes Kane. He gets in the ring and cuts a promo on Shane. This isn't over - it's just began. Here comes the Hurri..Hurri..HurriKane. Hurricane comes on the ramp and wants to know why Kane has changed so much. They shoot footage from a year ago when Kane & Hurricane won the Tag Team Championship - and "what is up with that!". Kane bashes the fans and says he wants to fight, so Hurricane should come to the ring. Hurricane doesn't, so Kane spots a kid at ringside and moves toward him in threatening gestures. Hurricane attacks Kane. Kane slams him into the steel post. A boot and then Kane is ready for a chokeslam. But here's the S.H.I.T. Rosey in for the save. The superheroes team up and Kane is knocked from the ring to the floor. He flees back up the ramp.

Commercial.

Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade are in the back playing the new Wrestlemania X9 game with Maven looking on. Here is La Resistance and Rob Conway. Some verbal jousting, but not much else and we have a match next.

6-Man Tag-Team Match: La Resistance and Rob Conway versus Garrison Cade, Mark Jindrak, and Maven
A chaotic match to be sure as most of the time, all three men were in the ring. Some great teamwork by La Res and Conway. Sylvan must still be nursing his neck, because he didn't spend much time in the ring. In the end, Maven nails a DDT from off the top on Conway. Everyone gets involved. Cade picks up Conway, and Jindrak nails the perfect dropkick to Conway's head. Cade gets the cover and pin.
Winners: Garrison Cade, Mark Jindrak, and Maven

Stone Cold is still outside mouthing off at the security. Here's RVD. He wants to thank Austin for the match tonight against Christian. Austin tells RVD to whip Christian's ass. Here's some big dude (John something - didn't catch the name). He shakes Austin's hand and has always wanted to meet him. He and Austin go off to talk.

Triple H is in a studio somewhere and cuts a little promo. He congrats Goldberg for being the new World champ, but HHH wants his belt back. He offers a 100,000 dollar bounty to any man who can put Goldberg "on the shelf"..

Coach and Al talk about their match with JR and Coach is ready. It's next.

Country Whipping Match - Winner gets to be the RAW announcer: Jim Ross versus The Coach
Chris Jericho comes out and joins Al on the announce team. In the match - JR smack Coach and he goes to the outside. A lot of stalling, Coach begs off in the corner. JR charges in and Coach moves. Coach starts to strap JR - over and over. JR nails Coach with a low blow. And time for a slobber knocker! Not really - just some strapping as JR peels off Coach's shirt and lashes away. Here comes Eric Bischoff and JR straps him. Coach tries for a low blow, but JR catches him with a version of the stunner and gets the win.
Winner and New Raw Announcer: JR

Al Snow heads to the ring and he and Bischoff help Coach to the back. Jerry Lawler comes out and he and JR celebrate. Here comes Steve Austin through the crowd (with a ticket) and he comes to the ring to celebrate with JR and King. They drink a 1lot of beer and everyone is happy.

Wrestlemania Recall:
1999 - Butterbean knocks out Bart Gunn in a Brawl for All.

JR and King are back at the announce table as they show footage from Madison Square Garden where Wrestlemania XX tickets went on sale this past Saturday (and sold out!)

Terri Runnels is in the ring and introduces Lita. Lita comes down. Terri and Lita plug the new book, which comes out tomorrow. Lita says she's back and happy to be here. Here comes Molly and Gail Kim. They chase Terri from the ring and badmouth Lita. Ambush on Lita as they work her over. Here comes Trish for the save. Trish and Lita clean house. Here comes Victoria. She goes after Trish and nails the "Widow's Peak!" A double DDT by Molly and Gail on Lita. Molly stands over Lita and rips pages form her book, stuffing them in Lita's mouth.

Extreme Burn of the Night:
Kane attacks Shane McMahon last week on RAW at the hospital and leaves him a bloody mess.

Kane versus The Hurricane
Hurricane uses his speed to keep Kane off balance in the start. A big flip to the floor as Hurricane goes after Kane. But Kane finally catches him. A big powerslam and then a chokeslam and Kane get's the pin. After the pin, Kane gives Hurricane one more chokeslam, just because he can.
Winner: Kane

Goldberg is pacing in the back. Josh asks him about the bounty. Goldy says anyone who tries for the bounty is getting taken out. On cue -Stevie Richards attacks Goldberg. Goldberg quickly lays him out.

Ric Flair and Randy Orton versus Shawn Michaels and Goldberg
Evolution matches power against Goldberg. And loses. HBK is in and fists are flying. A back drop to Flair and Orton - Flair goes to the outside and Orton catches HBK with a backbreaker. Orton does some clobbering and here comes the Nature Boy. Flair and HBK exchange chops and punches - back and forth. And so it goes. Orton nails HBK with perfect dropkick. Goldy in with a fall away press slam on Orton and a spear on Flair. HBK lands some Sweet Chin Music on Orton. And here's Rodney Mack in the ring - going after Goldberg. Mark Henry attacks HBK on the outside. HBK eats the steps and gets busted open. Back in the ring - Goldy nails Mack with a jackhammer. Mark Henry drags HBK up the ramp as Mack rolls from the ring. Eye contact between Henry and Goldy as Henry indicates he wants the bounty.

Teddy Long and Mark Henry are in the back. Next week - it's a match between Goldberg and Mark Henry and Henry aims to collect Triple H's bounty. Now believe that!

A look back at the Red Carpet premiere of The Rundown last week. It's the # 1 movie in the country right now.

WWE Rewind:
Christian nails RVD last week on RAW with the IC title - getting himself DQ'ed. Then the big splash from the top of the ladder.

Intercontinental Championship Match - Ladder Match: Christian (champ) versus Rob Van Dam
Christian starts off with a kick to the gut. Spinkick by RVD. To the outside and RVD is rammed into the barrier. Christian gets the ladder, but RVD nails him with baseball slide. And so it goes. Back and forth. Both men using the ladders to it's full effect. Rolling thunder by RVD. Christian attempts an unprettier from the top of the ladder, but RVD reverses. A nasty spot as RVD monkey-flips Christian on the ladder. RVD attempts a five star, but Christian moves and RVD eats steel. Christian knocks him to the floor and goes for the belt. RVD in and stops him. Both guys are fighting on top of the ladder. It falls and RVD jumps to another ladder. Christian gets hung on the top rope. Off the top of the ladder- RVD hits the five-star. He climbs the ladder and grabs the IC belt. New champ as RVD is declared the winner;
Winner and New Intercontinental Champion: Rob Van Dam

It was a great show. The strap match was kind of bad, but everything else just sort of flowed good. Next week - it's Mark Henry versus Goldberg. The ladder match was excellent. And that's it. I'm running way late, so I'd better go post this. This is Doug M. telling you to keep it "RAW"! Later gators!
