Greetings, salutations, and all that good stuff! Doug M. here with another exciting look at the news and views from the country of Japan. It's time for "Tossing Salt - Wrestling from the Land of the Rising Sun!". It's a slow day, so there's not much news to report, but what little we got - it's a doozy! Let's jump straight to it with:

NEWS!

HARD TIMES FOR WORLD JAPAN PRO!

Daily Sports had a very damaging article on the company in their Thursday newspaper. The article claims that Riki Chosu, Kensuke Sasaki, Shiro Koshinaka, & Takao Omori held an emergency meeting in Toyko on Wednesday. Issues addressed in the meeting included guys not being paid for two months, new sources of cash, and several other unpredictable situations. The meeting started at 3pm and ran until 6:30 pm with no breaks. Tiger Hatori and Norio Honaga were also involved.

Koshinaka & Omori both issued "no comments" to the press after the meeting. Wrestlers came out of the meeting convinced that new financial backing (rumors of some involvement of PRIDE boss Hiromichi Momose) squashed worries that some employees had about the future of the organization.

HOGAN PROMOTES SHOW THROUGH VIDEO!

New Japan management played a "video letter" sent to them by Jimmy Hart and Hulk Hogan to promote Hogan's appearance at the 10/13 SUPER CRUSH 2 show at the Toyko Dome. Jimmy Hart will be appearing with Hulk Hogan as his manager at the event. Hogan promised the fans that he will be reviving his "axe-bomber".

AND FINALLY:

Animal Hamaguchi was named as head of Wrestling's World Cup Association. He will be in attendance at the 10/11 and 10/12 Yoyogi National Stadium Gym II shows in Toyko. Hamaguchi's daughter, Kyoko, will also be participating.

OK, I told you it was short today. But have no fear. The weekend is coming and things will most definitely be picking up.

Two more quick things to note before I sign off. First - today is the birthday of former WWF Champion Yokozuna. Yoko may be gone now, but his memory lives on. Happy Birthday and RIP, big man!

And secondly - just a little bit of meaningless trivia that relates to today's date - 10/02. On this date - way back in 1937 - the first ever "Texas Tornado" match was held. This is a tag team match where all four men are in the ring at the same time. It took place in Houston, TX and was the brainchild of wrestling promoter Morris Sigel. The participants of this groundbreaking event were Milo Steinborn & Whiskers Savage versus Tiger Daula & Fazul Mohammed. Just something to make you say "hmmmmmmm!".

Well, that's it for today. For feedback and questions, contact me at DougMaynard@wrestlinginformer.net or at Doug28352@yahoo.com. It's been real. Until next time, keep it light - and watch out cause Godzilla will be back - and a word to Kong - he wants a rematch! Later.

-Doug
