WWE Smackdown - Philadelphia, PA 9/25/03

Opening montage, lots of fireworks, and let the show begin..
The WWE title belt is in the ring and it's set up for a special presentation for new champion Brock Lesnar. Sable & Vince come to the ring. Vince talks about the Iron Man match last week and starts to introduce Brock, but he gets Kurt Angle instead. Kurt comes to the ring.
Vince tells Kurt he has to work his way back up to get a title shot. Kurt says he's there to kick Brock's ass - in the ring or in the back. He calls out Brock, but gets John Cena. Cena gets in the ring and starts to diss Kurt, but gets flattened by the Olympic hero before he can say much. Cena to the floor and he goes to the back. Kurt follows, but he's still looking for Brock. Cut to the back - Kurt is looking for Brock. He's blindsided by Cena. Cena flees to the pkg. lot, gets in a truck and leaves. Kurt commanderes Vince's limo and follows. And the two were never seen again.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Eddie & Chavo Guerrero versus Matt Hardy & Shannon Moore
Eddie & Chavo arrive in a hot blue lowrider pick-up.
Matt Facts: Matt has wrestled with strep throat ; Matt hates taking medicine.
Matt and Eddie to start. Headlock by Eddie and Chavo in. Lots of tags in the beginning by Los Guerreros. Chavo is in control, and Shannon grabs him from the outside and pulls him to the floor. Matt with a baseball slide/dropkick and Team Mattitude takes over. A suplex by Shannon and some double-teaming. Chavo fights back with a DDT.
Eddie in and on fire. Matt with a boot - goes for Twist of Fate.But Eddie slides out and Shannon nails him for two. Shannon goes to the top, but misses a dive. Chavo nails a suplex and Eddie gets froggy. THe splash and the pin on Shannon.
Winners and still champs: Los Guerreros
After the match - Matt attacks Eddie from behind and nails a side-affect on top of the belt. Chavo in to run Matt off and check on Eddie.

During the break - Charlie Haas comes form out of nowhere and clears Chavo from the ring. An attack on Eddie and Charlie applies the Haas of Pain.
A-Train comes to the ring. Oh geez! He has a mic. He's sick of Chris Benoit and wants somebody. He talks trash to the audience and attacks the timekeeper - placing him in an A-Train version of the cross-face. Here comes the Crippler Chris Benoit from the back. They fight a bit and Benoit is tossed to the outside. A-Train nails him with a chair and lays out the Wolverine.
Trainers are in the back checking out an injured Eddie Guerrero. They tell him not to wrestle any more tonite and he says to back off..
The obligitory scene with Vince groping all over Sable. Here's a member of the ring crew to inturrupt. Vicne says the WWE title presentation will go on.
Josh Matthews interviews Charlie Haas - who says Eddie got what he deserves and that he will be the next US champ.
Cole & Tazz talk about the history between Tajiri and Rey Mysterio as footage is shown highlighting all the action between the two leading up to tonite.
A quick look at THE RUNDOWN with the Rock talking about the use of wrestling holds in the movie. It starts tommorow at a theatre near you!
Cruiserweight Championship Match
Rey Mysterio versus Tajiri
Lock up and Tajiri starts with the kicks. Keeps control until Rey nails a dropkick for two. Rey charges into the corner and Tajiri locks in the tarantula. The fight continues and Tajiri is knocked to the outside. Rey with a big dive over the top and both men are down.

Back and Rey is in control. Goes to the top, but jumps into big kick. Back and forth - Rey with elbows and Tajiri with kicks. Rey lands a bulldog. Rey hits a suplex. Can only get 2. Tajiri hits the Death Valley Driver and gets a two. Tajiri goes to kick Rey - Rey moves and Tajiri's kick nails the ref. Some fists and Tajiri is in position. 619 by Rey and the West Coast pop. But Tajiri moves and Rey misses. Big kick. A second ref in and Tajiri gets 2. Rey does a roll-up, but Tajiri nails him with the red mist. A big kick and Tajiri gets the pin.
Winner and new champion: Tajiri

Basham Brothers w/ Shaniqua versus Jamie Noble & Bradshaw w/Nidia
SInce Billy Gunn is hurt, Jamie has hired Bradshaw to be his partner. They storm the ring and Jamie takes Danny to the floor while Bradshaw works over Doug. A big suplex and Bradshaw tags in Jamie who puts the boots to the Basham. Noble is slung to the outside and Shaniqua nails him with a big kick. Danny covers for two and tags Doug back in.
A big flapjack on Jamie and Doug applies a Sgt. Slaughter cobra clutch. Jamie fights back with a neckbreaker and tags in Bradshaw. Bradshaw goes to clubbering on the Bashams. A big fall-away slam on Danny. Jamie takes out Doug. Nidia goes after Shaniqua, but gets a big clothesline for her troubles. The Bashams double-team Bradshaw, but he's had enough.
CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL! Bradshaw makes the cover and Shaniqua is in the ring putting the boots to Bradshaw, causing a DQ.
Winners by DQ: Jamie Noble and Bradshaw w/Nidia

WWE Smack of the Night: Matt attacks Eddie earlier tonite - and then Haas does the same thing.
United States Championship Match
Eddie Guerrero versus Charlie Haas
Eddie is coming to the ring. Big Show is headed to the back. Big Show attacks Eddie and rams him into the steel post. Haas sees the opening and attacks. The boots and a suplex by Haas. Eddie fights back with a dropkick. Haas nails a spinebuster and gets 2. Haas works on the back and ribs. Eddie lands a headscissors and both men are down. Haas runs Eddie into the steel and he's down on the outside.
Here's Chavo to check on his Uncle Eddie. Haas attacks Chavo. The refs make Chavo leave the area while Haas works over Eddie in the ring. Haas goes for Haas of Pain, but Eddie barely wiggles out. Eddie pulls Haas to the floor. Haas gets the US title belt and brings it in the ring. The ref ttakes it from him and lays it in the corner. The ref and Haas argue while Eddie gets the belt and drapes it over the corner turnbuckle. Haas comes charging in on Eddie and he moves - Haas's head hits the belt. Eddie gets froggy and gets the pin.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero
WWE Rewind: The end of the Iron Man Match where time expired and Brock wins.
Vince and Sable are in the ring and introduce Brock. The grinning monkey comes to the ring and he and Vince do some back and forth ass-kissing, ending in a big hug.
Here comes the Undertaker (and the crowd goes nuts!) He talks trash to Vince and Brock and says he gets the first title shot. Vince says no way and here comes Steph to the ring. She signed the match for the No Mercy PPV. Vince tells her to change her mind or else she'll have to wrestle him. She says the match is on. Vince tells her it's Vince versus Steph in an I QUIT match. Brock cheap-shots the Taker, but gets a big chokeslam straight to hell from the Dead man. Taker poses with the title as Steph cheers and Vince and Sable look on.
Not a bad show. Eddie was on fire, as usual and Haas is looking great. We got a new Cruiserweight Champ. Bradshaw and Noble looked a little too comfortable as a team, but Shaniqua is looking awesome. She's an example of everything right about Tough Enough!
Only a few seconds of Big Show and A-Train - a little too much Vince and Sable - what was the deal with Kurt and Cena? They appear for a few minutes - and go off on a big chase scene..What up with dat?
And I have to ask - am I the only one who see's tag team gold in the future of Team Mattitude? Where was Spanky & Sean O'Haire? A decent way to spend two hours. I'm satisfied!
