(Retro) Abraxas - Guardian Of The Universe (Review) - August 7, 2003

Just finished trying to watch the movie "Abraxas - Guardian of the Universe" starring Jesse Ventura.. I say trying, because this movie is a DUD!

I only could stand about 30 minutes and and I was like, WTF? It's confusing with bad acting and hard dialogue and a hard story to follow.. The back of the box says "Jesse 'the Body' Ventura stars as Abraxas, an 11,000 year old "finder."

Finders are intergalactic police officers assigned to protect people in dangerous situations. One of his fellow officers, Secundus is tired of being a Finder and wants out of the force. He impregnates an Earth woman, Sonia, so that she will give birth to a comator - a hybrid being that has the power to destroy the universe.

Five years later, Sonia and her son are enjoying a normal life in a sleepy little Canadian town, unaware of the power that the little boy contains. Secundus descends upon the town to retrieve his son with Abraxas right behind him. Now Abraxas has to find the little boy before Secundus does."

OK - sounds a little wild, but the movie I tried to watch and the movie this box describes are nothing alike.. Jesse was a good Governor, and a great announcer, but this movie makes me kind of question his judgement in accepting movie roles..

If you ever decide to see a movie with Jesse Ventura, see "The Running Man.. Hell, even go rent "Repossessed".. He and Mean Gene doing play by play of the Devil's battle with Leslie Neilson is freakin' hilarious...

But leave "Abraxas - Guardian of the Universe" on the shelf where you find it - or better yet, "accidently" knock it into the trash can to be thrown away.. We'll all be better off for it..
