Wrestling Fact or Fiction - January 19, 2012

Tossing Salt Presents Wrestling Fact Or Fiction
January 19, 2012
Doug Maynard

Back again with another week of the hottest column in the wrestling universe, the one and only "Tossing Salt Presents Wrestling Fact or Fiction". I'm Doug and I'm running so late this week, Abe Vigoda is calling my house asking if I'm still alive. (Pop reference there. Gotta love it!) It's myself and the baddest man on the planet, the man who calls He-Man "hey kid", Mr. Russell Jackson debating the issues. Let's jump right to it.

1)The WWE should send Ole Anderson a plaque and ring for the WWE HOF Induction of the Horsemen regardless of the personal bad feelings between Ole and Vince?

Doug - Fact: Having the Horsemen in the WWE Hall of Fame without Ole Anderson being a part of the mix is like making Mac & Cheese, but leaving out the cheese and replacing it with artificial cheese flavoring - it might look okay on the surface, but it's just not right. I know Ole hates Vince and I know that Vince isn't a big fan of the original "Rock", but damn it all, right is right and the WWE should at least attempt to extend the olive branch to the former Original Horseman. Knowing of Ole as we all do, he might (and would probably) say "F.U." to the honor, but that doesn't mean that Vince and the WWE shouldn't do something to show some kind of respect and honor to the man.

Russell - Fact: Reguardless of the personal bad feelings between Ole & Vince, the WWE should send Ole Anderson a plaque & ring for the WWE HOF Induction of the Horsemen since after all, Ole WAS one of the original members of the 4 Horsemen...It's such a shame that this bitter animosity between Vince & Ole couldn't just let alone for 1 night for the 4 Horsemen Induction Ceremony...

2) Ric Flair will return to the WWE when his TNA contract expires?

Doug - Fact: When his TNA days are done, Ric will definitely be part of the WWE again. Vince and HHH love Ric, despite his flaws and they know that a properly used Ric Flair is good for business. TNA has tried, but they haven't been able to keep a reign on the "Nature Boy" and his run with the company has been less than grand. I don't think we'll ever see Ric wrestle again (I hope not anyhow) but there are so many ways he could still be a significant influence and play a major role for the company. WWE is the place he needs to be.

Russell - Fact: I see Ric Flair comin back to the WWE when his TNA contract expires but NOT & I do mean N.....O.....T....in a wrestling compacity...That man does not need to be inside a wrestling ring whatsoFREAKINever...Let him host NWA/WCW programs or Legends of Wrestling shows that's based on NWA/WCW themes or NWA/WCW wrestlers..."The Nature Boy" needs to leave the wrestling scene with so dignity in place b4 it's too late...

3) Switching the WWE Tag Team Titles at a house show (Epico & Primo defeated Air Boom on Sunday afternoon in L.A.) was a good move by the WWE?

Doug - Fact: It was a good move for two reasons. First off, we all now know about Evan Bourne's most recent suspension (sixty days) and the WWE needed to get the tag titles off of Evan and Kofi for that reason. So they took the first available opportunity and used a house show to so just that. Good for them. It was a move of necessity and had to be done. It's also good for the reason that it showed the fans that house shows do matter and anything still can happen at anytime in the WWE. It should help with future house show attendence figures because fans may start feeling that "hey, maybe we'll see history and a title change". That's a good thing.

Russell - Fact: Switching the WWE Tag Team Titles at a house show was a good move by the WWE, considerin what was behind the move to have Epico & Primo win the WWE Tag Titles over Air Boom...Now whether this was the case or not (which I think it is), Evan Bourne was suspended for 60 days for his 2nd violation of The WWE Talent Wellness Program...If that WAS indeed why the WWE Tag Titles changed hands at the house show, then why didn't they have the Tag Titles change hands the first time Bourne was suspended...Makes no sense to me...Bourne needs to get himself in check b4 he gets his 3rd strike then he's gonna be without a job, makin loads of money in the wrestling business...

4) Vince McMahon was right to pull CM Punk from accompanying Chael Sonnen to the Octogon at the live UFC show on Fox next Saturday night?

Doug - Fiction: Vince is turning down free advertisement for the WWE and the Royal Rumble, as well as a chance to expose Punk to fans that might decide to give the WWE a look-see if someone can pique their interest. It wouldn't even be so stupid if it Vince hadn't already approved it beforehand. It's just a dumb move by the WWE that doesn't make any sense.

Russell - Fiction: Considering that both CM Punk & Chael Sonnen BOTH had clearance from UFC & WWE to have CM Punk walk Chael Sonnen to the Octogon at the live UFC show on Fox next Saturday night, makes no sense to have Vince McMahon suddenly call it off...Vinnie Mac must have had a wild hair crawled up his ass the wrong way...

5) Kurt Angle is telling the truth when he recently said on Twitter that the WWE wants him back?

Doug - Fiction: Kurt also said that he was going to try out for the Olympics in 2012, that UFC wanted him to come work for them, that he was training for MMA fights, that he wasn't doing anything wrong when he got his DWI's and that everyone and their mama was "stealing his moves". Kurt has the credibility of an eggplant these days. A great wrestler, but not the most sincere and honest of persons by any means.

Russell - Fiction: To be honest, I dunno what to think bout Kurt Angle on what he says anymore...I think the WWE is doin just fine without Kurt Angle so why would Angle say on Twitter that the WWE wants him back?...Would it possibly be because of Angle goin for the Olympics later this year (2012)?...I highly doubt it...Not the fact that I highly doubt that WWE would want Kurt back cuz of Kurt tryin to go to the 2012 Olympics, but that Kurt is actually tryin to make it there period...Don't really know & actually don't really care...

<<---->> SWITCHEROO <<--->>

6)Taking the U.S. Championship off of Zack Ryder and putting it on Jack Swagger was a good move?

Russell - Fiction: Zack Ryder worked his F****** ASS off to get the United States Championship BUT for him to only hold it for 3 to 4 weeks before losin it to a goof like Jack Swagger is ABSOLUTELY absurd...I hope that Zack gets well soon so that he reclaims what is rightfully his & that's the WWE United States Championship...

Doug - Fiction: Zack was too injured to put up a fight against Swagger, but was making all sorts of WWE appearances all week for the company all over the U.S.? Yeah, right!! The whole Kane-angle with Cena has been kind of stupid ever since the beginning and it's hurting Ryder that he's been sucked into it. He lost his title and looked like a total dweeb in the process. Swagger won the title, but then immediately got slaughtered by Cena twenty minutes later so any credibility he had was shot to hell. So pretty much both Ryder and Swagger were decimated by the WWE Powers-that-be in one swift, clean motion. It just sucks! Period!

7)Mick Foley should be allowed to participate in the Royal Rumble?

Russell - Fact: Let Mick Foley enter the Royal Rumble so he can live the dream to hopefully win the Royal Rumble match & challenge either the WWE Champion or the World Heavyweight Champion...Better yet, have Mick Foley face John Laurinaitis in a 1 on 1 match & the winner becomes the permanent Raw GM...Makes sense to me.

Doug - Fact: Foley is a former three-time WWE Champion and a true legend in the business. If he wants to be a part of the Rumble, then the WWE should make him part of the Rumble. 'Nuff said!

8)We will eventually see a match between CM Punk and John Laurinaitis?

Russell - Fiction: I COULD see a tag match between the 2, but as far as an actual 1 on 1 match between CM Punk & John Laurinaitis, I don't see that happenin...What they're doin as far as the verbal attacks back'n'forth seems to be goin good for now...

Doug - Fact: It will probably be a novelty match and I doubt we'd have a clean finish, but it'll happen eventually. The WWE seems determined that they're going to recreate the Vince - Stone Cold feud with Punk and Ace and an eventual match is just inevitable.

9)We will eventually see a match between Mick Foley and John Laurinaitis?

Russell - Fact: See question 7 for details.

Doug - Fact: Mick Foley versus Johnny Ace for the General Manager's job of RAW at Wrestlemania 28. Make it happen!

10) It was a good move by the WWE to have Perez Hilton do a guest appearance on RAW?

Russell - Fiction: Don't know who Perez Hilton is so that question is irrelevant to me...For all I know, just another celebrity who wants in on the WWE Fame & WWE Divas (UUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!) for that matter.

Doug - Fiction: Nobody of any importance cares about Perez Hilton. He's a blogger with big numbers and a bigger ego, but I've got news for the WWE. None of the brain-dead pinheads that follow Hilton give a damn about the WWE or wrestling / sports-entertainment in general, unless it's just to search google for naked pics of John Cena, Randy Orton and Hornswoggle. Yeah, they're some sick puppies. Following Hilton is proof of that. The entire segment (and the little poof himself) was and is a complete waste of everyone's time.

And that's it. We ran (9-1) this week and only faltered on the CM Punk - Johnny Ace question. Will total agreement ever happen? Who knows, but we'll keep trying.

Questions, comments, or if you'd like to join Russell and myself as part of the Fact Or Fiction Funky Bunch, drop me a line at Doug28352@yahoo.com. I've got more rambling to do, but time is not on my side. I'm out of here and I'll see you next week. Thanks for reading and never, ever forget, pumpkins are your friends.
