(Retro) Some Quirks & Superstitions Of Wrestlers - July 17, 2003

Some Quirks And Superstitions of Wrestlers - July 17, 2003

Professionial athletes are famous for their rituals and quirky ways. And professionial wrestlers are no different. I found an article by "Stagger" Lee Marshall in an old WCW magazine that reveals some of the more interesting pre-match rituals of some of the wrestlers.

Goldberg is well known for "headbutting" the door of a locker before heading to the ring. Evidently, this habit is a leftover from his football days.

"The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko has a certian little tune - 4 notes to be exactly - that he hums before going to the ring or announce position.
Sting's pre-match ritual before going to the ring - he does exactly 200 squats - no more and no less.

The Big Show keeps a petrified sharks tooth in his gym bag as his "lucky charm".

Chris Jericho's pre-match ritual is exactly the same before each match - about 15 minutes of total quiet to psyche himself up, and then a quick prayer for him and his opponent.

Dusty Rhodes will not take a road trip without a stuffed toy mouse that his wife gave him about 15 years ago. He has even turned around and gone back home after traveling hundreds of miles if he has forgotten his "good luck" piece.

Bobby "the Brain" Heenan, back when he was an active wrestler, would only take one pair of sweatsocks along on each stretch of touring - and would use the same socks, unwashed, each night, until time to go back home.
