(Retro) Wrestlers As Recording Stars - July 17, 2003

Wrestlers As Recording Stars - July 17, 2003

I'm sure everyone remembers the WWF wrestling album back in the 80's and the WWF stars trying to sing (and some of 'em weren't half bad!) And of course, the WWF - now WWE has released several albums of entrance themes and stuff like that. And Y2J Chris Jericho is the lead singer of the band "Fozzy". That's all common knowledge, But other wrestlers have also tried to be music stars.

Adrian Street has released several albums of original music which can be purchased through his website.

Jesse "the Body" Ventura was the lead singer of several rock bands in Minnesota.

Sgt. Slaughter released a single in 1985 with a band called "Camoflauge" called "Cobra Clutch".

The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) released a couple of singles in the mid-80's while they were wrestling for the AWA.

The Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant released a 45rpm in 1979 that contained 2 excellent songs that were co-written by Jimmy Hart. "Son of a Gypsy" and "He's Got What It Takes".

Who doesn't remember Michael P.S. Hayes and the Fabulous Freebirds and their "Badstreet USA" single.

"The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko wrote and recorded a song in 1981 called "Boo On Me".

A semi-related music note. On the original "Great American Bash" tours, by the NWA in the mid-80's, very often, the matches would be ended by a concert. Both Waylon Jennings and David Allen Coe performed on these tours and various wrestlers, including Jimmy Valiant, Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, and even Ric Flair would often get on stage with the bands and help them sing.
