(Retro) Stu Hart Stories - July 18, 2003

Stu Hart Stories - July 18, 2003

I was looking through some old wrestling mags I have (I have boxes full of these things dating from the early 80's until just a couple of years ago) and came across an interview with Dick "Bulldog" Brower in the June 92 Issue of New Wave Wrestling. He had a couple of stories about Stu Hart that I thought were pretty neat, so I'm gonna copy 'em down for ya'll!

NW: Do you have any stories about other wrestlers that you've dealt with?

Brower: While I was staying at his house, I remember Stu Hart cooking bacon and sausages on the stove. A dog walked in and crapped on the floor; Stu tok his spatula, picked it off the floor, and threw it in the garbage. He then put the spatula back in the pan and asked me: "Bulldog, do you want bacon or sausage for breakfast?" I said, "Not today...."

NW: Do you have any other appetizing Stu Hart stories?

Brower: In Alberta, Canada, Stu picked up a whole side of the ring and dropped a post on his foot. Several hours later, Smith Hart says, "You're limping pretty bad, Dad. Why don't you have the doctor look at it?" Two hours later, a doctor shows up and takes off Stu's boot. Stu had four broken toes - his big toe was almost cut in half! He didn't even utter a groan. That's one tough S.O.B.! He taught his boys the same way, and they're really great boys. He taught them how to take care of themselves. Bret Hart, for instance, can take any of those weightlifters and shove their heads up their asses!

One more thing to note - Brower was asked about Hulk Hogan:

NW: What do you think of Hulk Hogan as a wrestler?

Brower: Hogan's a gutless wonder. At 6 foot, 6 inches and 300 plus pounds, he's definitely got the machinery behind him; however he has no heart. Sure, he's got notoriety, but he lucked out. He was in the right place at the right time.

Bulldog Brower passed away a couple of years ago. He had his last big run in the mid-80's against the then-WWF champion Bob Backlund. But he left his mark and these interviews make for some interesting reads. Hope ya'll like.
